Joel smiles at that, he can't even begin to help himself. "That's a sweet thing to say," he says and he does cherish the thought. He hopes it's true, because he knows he sees Spencer as the one person who has basically changed his life in every possible way and he thinks Spencer sees him the same way, too.

"What about you?" he asks and he hesitates for a moment, then reaches out and squeezes her shoulder briefly. "Have you been well?" She doesn't talk about herself a lot and sometimes Joel wonders if it's just that she's shy or that she feels like she can't, but he wants to give her that option if she wants.
