It pleases Spencer to see that Joel looks to be feeling about as guilty as he does about being caught a step away from being undone by each other by Ellie, which is to say hardly at all, save for the fact that being in here means they've abandoned their own surrogate to the eagerness of middle-aged women who are fascinated by Erin's choice to provide a homosexual couple such as Spencer and Joel with a child. He's been asked the questions himself, which he suspects hasn't stopped them from asking again, about whether the mother will get to see the child, too, or how holidays like Christmas will work when Erin is celebrating with her family and the Waters-Bakers are celebrating with each other.

Much like he and Joel had gently tried to remind Brian more than once--though they've since given it up and anyway, he only slips once in awhile now--that neither of them had ever been gay but bisexual, Spencer had attempted to explain that while Erin is carrying the child to term for them, she won't be considered the baby's mother. He'd gotten some confused stares, which hadn't surprised him, and none of the women mean any harm at all so he'd only laughed--a genuine laugh, at that--and told them that perhaps Ellie would be better off explaining it. Of course, they'd probably just ended up going straight to the source, which he's sure Erin doesn't mind but still, he and Joel should probably at least consider moving away from the desk to go save her.

"Do you think that what we're paying our lovely surrogate is commesurate to what she's having to deal with out there," he teases, though it's punctuated by a moan as Joel's beard rubs against his neck, and Spencer has always loved that feeling. The beard is long enough that it's soft but still prickles, and he knows that there are parts of his cheeks and neck that must be red from it already, but he doesn't care. If they walk out of this library and everyone can tell just by looking at them what they've been doing, Spencer will be fine with that because this is their house, and they're entitled to do whatever they please. Even while acting as the hosts of a baby shower.

Another moment or so in here won't hurt their guests, he decides, nor will it hurt Erin, who's hinted to them more than once that they should take advantage of what little time they have left together as just a married couple as opposed to a married couple with a baby because quality time becomes rare when they're being woken up at all hours of the night. Between taking on their new roles as fathers to a newborn and running the store and Joel's kindness in volunteering to help Corinne Flynn with building sets for the Waterhouse, they're going to be very busy indeed.

"Mm, forget what I just said, do we really have to wait?" He knows the answer, even as he wraps his arms back around Joel's waist and pulls him closer again, Spencer knows what the answer will be but that doesn't stop him. Very little could stop him from pressing another kiss to his husband's lips, from smiling as the kiss deepens, from letting slip a soft moan. This is all they can do right now until later, until Spencer can make good on what he considers a promise, but he doesn't mind.

This is good. This is perfect.
