Spencer watches Joel for a moment, feeling the tug of a smile at his lips even though he knows what must be going through his husband's mind. "I can practically see the wheels turning up there," he says, tapping softly at Joel's temple before pressing his lips to the same spot. There are so many different, awful ways their story could have gone under that spell, and they had been more than fortunate to avoid them; but in the end, their minds had been manipulated and there isn't just them to consider. Coop has barely been able to look him in the eyes the entire time they've been in the same room during this shower, and they haven't actually spoken yet but Spencer wants nothing more than to take the man aside and assure him that there's nothing to apologize for when all he'd done was become a victim himself.

He and Joel had fallen in love all over again, but they'd also forgotten each other and it's that part that's unforgivable in particular, at least in Spencer's mind. He hadn't known his mother or his brother, his friends or even his true father, he hadn't known to expect the arrival of the most beautiful child this world will ever see. For the most part, he's been trying to ignore all that, focusing instead on what he'd found with Joel because otherwise, he knows he'll just be angry. He'd had his voice stolen for him and had been sentenced to horrible pain and doubt and confusion for two very long weeks but at the very least, he'd still emerged from it all as a man whose love was returned. That's important to Spencer, it means something to him; but never has he been so glad to be in Siren Cove the way it's meant to be.

"I love you, too. Wherever we go, whatever we're doing, I'll always love you. Even when you keep doing this thing with your hips that's making me crazy, I think it's much more unfair than anything I could possibly have said to you about what later will bring." It's the truth, Spencer is sure of it, because he'd delivered promises he fully intends on keeping but if Joel wants to leave this library with any chance of either of them looking like they haven't already gotten up to things they probably shouldn't be getting up to at their baby shower--or any baby shower, frankly--then he really needs to stop reminding Spencer of just how torturous waiting is really going to be.

It's with a deep breath and a pout that follows Joel's teeth grazing over his lip that he lets his head fall forward with a dramatic groan. "My jeans are uncomfortably tight now, thank you very much, there is no number of bottle shaped cookies that will change that. But fine, if you insist, I'll step outside so everyone can see what it is my husband does to me."

He glances back up before breaking into a grin, knowing very well that they're both going to need at least another few minutes before they're presentable again but there's a danger in that because really, it's just more time for them to get each other even more worked up. This is exactly why Spencer doesn't do well at social gatherings, there's always something else he'd much rather be doing. Specifically Joel.
