[closed - Levi]

It's the second time he's been at the police station with a letter, but this time he intends on doing this properly. The last time he knows things had turned out okay, but he also knows Levi had been right in giving him a hard time about it because things very well could have turned out not okay. At the time he'd thought it was the right thing to do, going after Spencer on his own, facing Mark by himself, it had been necessary, but it's different now.

He has Spencer to think about. The fact that they're married. This isn't just a ruined first date, it's so much more than that now, and with what's going on in Joel's head already, he doesn't want to make it any worse by risking Spencer's safety. But on top of that, they're embarking on a seriously important chapter of their life together. As much as Joel might want to go into vigilante mode and try to find a way to take on Mark himself, he needs to keep himself safe and out of trouble for the sake of the child they're going to have, probably within the next year.

There's a lot to think of now and Joel is making a solemn effort to do so.

Mark is still in prison, but Joel is hopeful this letter will get him another few years. Given that he'd already written letters, that he'd left three with Joel, all three of which he'd handed over to Levi all those months ago, he doesn't think it will be too hard for them to identify that this letter came from him.

"Hi," he says when he spots Levi, a faint smile on his face as he shifts his bag on his shoulder. The letter is in a plastic bag, just like the others. He'd carefully taken the envelope and has it in another plastic bag and while he knows his fingerprints and Spencer's are all over it, he's hoping they're not the only ones.
