PLOT POST
Gimme :D
Seriously, any plot, any ideas, let me hear them. I love plotting.
Facts about Joel I've been collecting:
Physical
- Height: 5'11, weight: 185 lbs, hair: black, curly, usually kept around this length, though sometimes he lets it get long, eyes: hazel
- He's fairly strongly built. Think more like this than how lean he was in Being Human.
- Dress style: Jeans, t-shirts, cardigans and Chuck Taylors, it's pretty much a uniform at this point. He also favours neutral colours, wearing mostly grey and black, sometimes white, and when he's dressing up, he has two plaid shirts: one blue, one red.
- He wears glasses, though not as often as he should. His eyesight isn't that bad and his prescription is fairly low, but he should always be wearing them when he reads or drives and sometimes he just... doesn't.
- Despite what some of his icons look like, he always has a beard. Because COME ON. IT'S A GOOD BEARD. >:))))
- Right handed, which is the wrist that was sprained and as a result he'll have trouble in his wrist joint for the rest of his life.
- The scar on his right eyebrow is from falling on the beach when he was eight and hitting his head on a rock. His mother had been away visiting a friend and his father had never been very good at healing potions and Joel had been too young to make them himself.
Magic
- Besides NPCs he sells his magic to, the only people who know he's a witch are Cosette Halloran, Lara Quinn, Spencer Waters, Raleigh Harper, Aoife Coombs and Shae Cooper. So while it's possible your character might suspect, there's no way that would know for certain.
- Lou Abasi, also knows, having been told by Lara.
- For ten years, he's actively worked on making protective charms, barriers and healing potions the thing he's best at and he's very, very good at them.
- He can speed up the healing process, but he can't fully heal more serious wounds.
- He's working on being able to read his premonitions better, but it's slow going.
- When he was eighteen, he accessed something very dark very easily and it's never quite left him.
- At Coop's birthday party on August 14, Joel got into a fight with Eli Jasper, Spencer's biggest bully, and ended up very publicly using his magic.
Personal
- He likes men and women pretty much equally.
- That said, he hasn't been in a relationship since he was 18 (her name was Amy) and hasn't been physically intimate with anyone since he was 22 (his name's not important).
- There are secret tragic backstory reasons for this that will be revealed eventually~
- His favourite books are Blood Meridian and The Once and Future King.
- He also really loves George Saunders.
- He's deeply uncomfortable leaving town and does it as little as possible.
- He's originally from Shediac, New Brunswick.
- His favourite music includes The Beatles, R.E.M. and Frank Turner, but he also has a secret love for mathematical and technical death metal, like Nile and Necrophagist.
- Married to Spencer Waters (doublethepain) as of August 26, 2014. They were married in Wilton, ME.
- INFJ - The Protector
- Big time feminist. He might be awkward about most things, but he will call people on their misogyny/racism/homophobia/general bigotry.
- Strong swimmer.
- There are three female tourists who spend the summer in Siren Cove - daughter, mother, grandmother - who come into Crossroads to buy romance novels and flirt with Joel, though he doesn't entirely understand what's going on.
- Watches a lot of documentaries.
- Is 100% atheist.
- Despite his bachelor tendencies, he's an excellent cook and an even better baker.
- His middle name is Cameron
- Is a big secret fan of So You Think You Can Dance.
- Despite really loving the ocean, Joel prefers fall and winter to spring and summer. The heat is difficult for him.
- Lives with Spencer.
- Is extremely handy; he can build furniture and do most renovations without professional assistance.
- Dane Lucas Waters-Baker was born June 19, 2015 and he is the cutest baby ever.
Family
- His sister (Charlotte) is eight years younger than he is; they were 10 and 18 when they were forced out of their hometown.
- She doesn't know the entire story behind why they had to leave. His parents made him promise not to tell her.
- His entire family lives a ten hour drive south of Siren Cove and they come up once a year to visit Joel, usually in early July.
- His parents had him quite young; 17 and 19. Their names are Ellie and Brian.
- When his family was run out of their home, they had to leave most everything behind. A sympathetic lawyer selling their home for them sent their photo albums, but Joel doesn't actually own anything from his past.
- It's ONE HUNDRED PERCENT okay with me to have your characters speculate about him. I've made him a pretty reclusive character, so gossip is fine and fun and definitely bound to happen.
